“Bringing Henrietta to Life: The Arts in Medical Humanities”

“Bringing Henrietta to Life: The Arts in Medical Humanities” is a ground breaking interdisciplinary event designed to create a dialogue on health disparities and artistic expressions. The event will feature the film, Bringing Henrietta to Life, produced by CSU students majoring in theater, dance, technical theater, and film/digital to explore the potential of the arts in the newly burgeoning field of medical humanities. Lunch will be provided, followed by a range of activities and breakout sessions, including the science of HeLa cells, biomedical ethics, medicine and law, health education, disparities in medical practices, ethical issues in nursing, the importance of institutional research and the developing role of arts in medical humanities.
Dr. John Jeziorowski, Chair of CSU’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Dr. Regennia N. Williams, Associate Professor of History, will moderate a morning plenary session on “Human Subjects and Informed Consent: The Institutional Review Board and You, A 21st-Century Roundtable Discussion.”
