April 25: Teaching Founding Documents Workshop

Check out the ESC workshop “Social Studies and the Common Core: Teaching the Founding Documents”  featuring CSU history Professors Tom Humphrey and Rob Shelton!

Workshop Details: The new Ohio Social Studies curriculum requires teaching with U.S. and Ohio Founding Documents for grades 4, 8 and high school American Government and American History.  In these workshops, we will explore the content of our Founding Documents and using the documents in the classroom.  History professors Tom Humphrey and Rob Shelton from Cleveland State University’s History Department will increase participants’ content knowledge about these primary sources, while K-12 Social Studies teachers will consider classroom activities using the documents with students.

The U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights will be the topics of the morning session.
The afternoon session will focus on the Northwest Territory documents that opened Ohio territory for settlement and the Ohio Constitution.
Participants may register for one or both sessions.
Morning Session:  8:30 am – 11:30 am (registration at 8:00 am)
Afternoon Session:  12:30 pm – 3:30 pm (registration at 12:00 pm)
